I think it’s incredibly difficult because we want to win today, at the major league level. At the same time,
what we want to be able to do is win every year, and I think the only way you do that is build from within and create a foundation for the organization. And I think that’s what made the team great twenty-five years ago, and a lot of those players came from inside so that’s what we want to build again. And it’s going to take a little time, but we’re still going to try to win like crazy at the major league level now, and I don’t think we’ll accept anything less. But in the meantime, we want to make sure that we’re stockpiling that system, rebuilding the foundation, and get to a point where that foundation of minor league players starts pushing their way on to the major league roster and hopefully takes us over the top.

Mi pare sia l’atteggiamento e il pensiero che molti di noi aspettavano da molto tempo soprattutto guardando le malefatte di Minaya. Costruire dal basso per rimanere sempre ai vertici. Ci vorrà tempo e pazienza ma potrebbe essere una strada importante da seguire. Mi vengono in mente i Red Sox (forse con un budget più alto del nostro ora), gli Indians che dopo due anni di ricostruzione sono di nuovo lì a contendere grazie anche ai loro giovani, i Rays. Esempi che danno l’esatta impronta di come ci auguriamo potranno essere gli anni a venire. Intanto abbiamo firmato gran parte delle scelte del draft 2011. Abbiamo preso Wheeler, importante perchè da l’indicazione di come si scelga la qualità piuttosto che la quantità . Mancano i nomi dei 2 PTBNL per la trade di K-Rod. Insomma, lavori in corso, ma con fiducia.
